A Super Simple Guide to Writing a Blog Post

A video showing how to create a simple blog post with some very basic SEO.

All our clients have access to a support site, with a ticketing system as well as lots of helpful video guides. We’ve just added this guide to writing a blog post that we thought other people may find useful too. We also do some very simple SEO on the post.

Although we’re using the standard WordPress post editing functionality here, there are a couple of things about fairly marvellous websites that may look a little different to yours, as well as some of the configuration we do to make our clients’ lives even easier. But the basics still apply.

How simple is the SEO?

Very. We’ve picked a simple key phrase and we’ve…

  • put it in the title
  • put it in the first paragraph
  • put it in the excerpt (which we use Yoast to inject into our “meta description”)
  • named the main image

Some useful links mentioned in the video:

  • Grammarly – helps us check our grammar as well as our spelling
  • Pixabay – royalty-free images. Check out Unsplash too.

Warning: some of our posts contain affiliate links, most contain traces of nuts. All posts have been written in an environment where nuts are frequently located.

When recommending products or services, we will frequently use affiliate links. If you make a purchase after clicking on them then we may well receive a small payment.

However, we only recommend products that we use ourselves – the referral fee is just a little bonus. Even without that bonus, we would still recommend the product and posts are not written with the sole intention of receiving that bonus.

Any bonus we do receive helps us fund our community projects.
